Fishes at Passies Pond

Of the two lakes the largest are to be found in the Day Ticket (main) lake. The lake has been stocked over the years with prime fish including Carp and Tench. There are also a good head of Chub, Roach Rudd, Perch and Barbel.
In the Match Lake there are also a good head of bream and brown gold fish. Although the size of these fish are smaller than the main lake there are plenty of them. The average size of these fish is between 1 - 3lb, and several bonus fish have also been added. The growth rate of these fish is very good as the water is fed from the Day Ticket Water, and has already shown excellent growth rates.

Note - All the fish stocked have been health tested, therefore anyone introducing or removing fish will be prosecuted.

Bream
This species are mainly found in the Match Lake but smaller skimmers are abundant in the main lake. With a good head of bream from 1 1/2 lbs-3lbs it is not always possible to catch them, as they will disappear from time to time Baits to use: maggot and pinkie best with caster in summer and the bigger specimens will take worm cocktails Best fish: 6lbs 4oz in the match lake but only 2lbs 6oz in the main

Carp
There are several different types of carp in the lakes these include Mirror, common, wild and ghost. Baits to use: lunchonmeat, sweet corn and paste in the summer maggot being favourite in the winter Best fish: common 19lbs 12oz set in 1992, Ghost 25 lbs Mirror 18lbs 9oz set in 1996 however larger fish have been caught but not recorded

Chub
The Chub were also introduced from the E. A. farm as small fish and have grown well they are one of the hardest fish in the lake but when found can give great sport as they tend to shoal Baits to use: maggot has to be the best with lunchonmeat and bread next Best fish: 6lbs 9oz

Roach
One of the best winter fish swimming in the lakes a good head of larger specimens Baits to use: caster has to be number one with maggot, bread and worm well worth a try bloodworm is allowed here and is a brilliant frosty weather bait Best fish: 3lbs 3oz but several 2lbs+ fish are caught each year

Rudd
A good summer fish always obliging and can be seen on the surface whip-fishing favourite Baits to use: maggot, bread and sweet corn for the bigger fish Best fish: 2lbs 1oz in 1996

Perch
Simply the best predator in the lakes fights like a demon and will take almost any bait Baits to use: worm has to be number one (live baits banned) with caster a good second maggots work well with bloodworm catching the smaller specimens Best fish: 4lbs 12oz in 2000 with a lot around the 2lbs mark both lakes have these prime fish

Tench
The Tench is a very sort after fish and can prove hard to catch the best fish are always caught in the margins and are best found in early morning and late evening Baits to use: lunchonmeat and sweet corn counting for most but paste, bread, maggot and even cockles can produce well worms and maggot in the winter months Best fish: 10lbs 0oz caught in 1992 several 6-8 lbs. fish this year
